In addition to completing 150 semester hours of study at the college level, those who wish to take the Uniform CPA Exam in Missouri must meet a number of other requirements.
1. Anybody taking the exam must have, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree with college credits that are approved by the State Board of Accountancy. If you have graduated from an international institution, a number of agencies can evaluate your qualifications and determine how they align with the required college credits.
2. You must meet the residency requirements for taking the Uniform CPA Exam. This means that you need to either live in, be employed in, or operate business premises in the resident state to be eligible.
3. Keep in mind that credits obtained from studying commercial CPA courses will not be accepted by the State Board of Accountancy as counting towards the 150 semester hours needed to take the exam.
4. Once a certificate is issued, annually a CPA must take no less than 40 hours of qualified continuing professional education (CPE) annually for continued qualification in the practice of Accountancy, this compares to 15 hours for an Attorney.
